Titling and Registering A Vehicle From Out of State
Registering your out of state vehicle when moving to Pueblo County requires the following documents:
- Out of state title and current registration.
- If your title is being held by a lienholder, know the name and address of the lienholder.
- Verification of VIN To be completed by:
- A Colorado Licensed Dealer
- A Colorado Law Enforcement Officer
- County Clerk Deputy, upon availability
- Current Proof of Insurance
- Your Secure and Verifiable Identification

Duplicate Title
- A duplicate title is a reprint of the original title record on file in the State Title Section
- The printing of a duplicate title voids all preceding titles.
- Liens are shown on the Colorado title for eight years when filed prior to 10/1/2009 and 10 years when filed after 9/30/09.
- Duplicate title will be mailed to the lienholder unless an approved lien release is submitted along with the application.
- A proper lien release must be on lienholder letterhead and must include:
- Vehicle description (year, make and VIN).
- The titled owner’s name.
- Agent’s signature.
- Signed under penalty of perjury or if notarized also must include the perjury statement.
- Date of the lien release.
If an approved lien release is submitted, the lien will be omitted on the duplicate title.
Owner or Lienholder may apply for a duplicate title at any county office or the State Title Section. DR2539A Duplicate Title Request and Receipt are required along with $8.20.

Verification is required when:
- Surrendering an out of state or out of country title and/or registration
- Surrendering an out of state MSO
- Surrendering a Colorado Purged Bill of Sale
- Tow Bill
- Military Registration
- Correcting any part of vehicle information
Verification can be completed by:
- Colorado Licensed Dealer
- Colorado Law Enforcement Officer
- County Clerk Deputy, upon availability

$7.20 plus sales tax.
Do I need to title and register my boat and ATV?
No. Our office does not title or register boats or ATV’s.
