Aging Services (PAAA)

Mission

The mission of the Pueblo Area Agency on Aging is to provide a coordinated services delivery system that assists older citizens in maintaining maximum independence, health, and personal well being. This is accomplished through Older Americans Act/State Funding for Senior Services grant administration, planning allocation of funds, resource development advocacy, and community education.

The Pueblo Area Agency on Aging (PAAA) is responsible for administering Older Americans Act (OAA), State and Local grant funds for the provision of nutrition and supportive services persons sixty (60) years of age and older in Pueblo County.

The designated Area Agency on Aging is the Pueblo Area Council of Governments (PACOG), and through an inter-governmental agreement, is operated through the Pueblo County Department of Housing and Human Services (HHS), Aging Services Division. The Executive Director of the HHS and the PAAA is Ted Ortiviz.

The work of the PAAA is guided by the Pueblo Advisory Council on Aging (PACA), appointed by the Pueblo Area Council of Governments. (See Link for purpose and membership opportunity.)

OAA services are provided directly by the PAAA, and through contracts with SRDA, the Pueblo Community Health Center, Colorado Legal Services and Caring Plus.

Programs funded through Older Americans Act and State Grants do not charge fees. Service recipients are encouraged to make a donation toward the cost of service. Preference is given to elderly persons in the greatest economic and social needs, particularly those who are low income, minority, frail, homebound, disabled, and isolated.
