Types of Weatherization ServicesWeatherization Service

  1. Attic Insulation-Qualified technicians will insulate the attic area of your home with blown-in cellulose insulation to the acceptable R-value for the area. The cellulose insulation is a paper product treated with boric acid. It is flame and rodent resistant, contains no asbestos, fiberglass, or mineral fibers and has been laboratory tested and approved.
  2. Sidewall Insulation-Cellulose insulation is installed by drilling through the exterior walls of the home with a 2” hole. The cavities are filled with blown in insulation and upon completion, the hole is plugged with a solid 2” wood plug and siliconed in place. The patch is then covered with a material product that matches the texture of the exterior of the home to the closest means possible. The patch is then painted to complete the process.

Occasionally, the exterior cannot be drilled; therefore, the insulation can be offered and installed through an interior drilling process utilizing basically the same methods listed above.
  3. Perimeter/Rim Joist/Floor Treatment-Fiberglass batt insulation is utilized in the basement or crawlspace areas. All material is attached securely.
  4. Health & Safety Inspections-The main mechanical devices (furnace and water heater) are inspected to ensure safe operation. The furnace is cleaned thoroughly and repaired if necessary. In the event an unsafe mechanical device is detected, we will work with the customer to obtain the funds necessary to replace via weatherization dollars, Emergency Crisis Intervention funds (CIP) offered through the Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP).

Qualified staff members perform all the work. During all processes, safety precautions and procedures are adhered to.

The services and procedures listed above are for site-built homes. A slightly modified technique is utilized for mobile homes.
