Governor's Energy Office Weatherization Program

Pueblo County's Weatherization Department works with the Governor’s Energy Office Weatherization  (GEOWx) Program to improve the energy efficiency of all residential structures throughout Colorado. Energy costs weigh heavily on low-income households. The GEOWx program provides energy upgrades to income-qualified homes to help keep energy costs low.

Pueblo County's Weatherization Program helps the GEOWx program deliver a range of energy efficient improvements to income-qualified homes. The types of improvements are divided into three tiers and delivered to homes based on cost-effectiveness and income level.

  • Tier 1 – a free home energy audit that assesses a home’s need for Tier 2 or 3 improvements.  The audit includes the installation of low cost upgrades such as compact fluorescent light bulbs, water saving showerheads and faucet aerators, and energy education.
  • Tier 2 –replaces appliances, refrigerators, and furnaces with ENERGY STAR rated devices and includes building shell measures such as insulation and air leakage work.
  • Tier 3 – for homes that are eligible for the Department of Energy (DOE) Weatherization Assistance Program.  Covers the same replacements as Tier 2 plus DOE required health and safety assessments and repairs.

Pueblo County's Weatherization Program is proud to partner with the GEOWx Program to serve nearly 20,000 households statewide per year.  Funding for this program is provided by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), the Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP), Xcel Energy and the State of Colorado.
