Insect and Animal Disease Control
There are numerous diseases that can be spread either from or through the arthropod and animal population (vectors) into the human population. These diseases range from those with mild symptoms to those with severe and life threatening complications. The Vector Control Program at the Pueblo City-County Health Department strives to reduce or eliminate the transmission of disease into the human population from arthropod and animal sources.
As an additional benefit from this program, the quality of life for Pueblo County residents is also greatly enhanced by the substantial reduction in the number of mosquitoes and other biting insects through mosquito control. This program serves both the City and County of Pueblo and therefore, influences the entire residential population, as well as any visitors coming to or through Pueblo County.
Pueblo City Ordinance also specifies the Health Department as the agency responsible for licensing kennels and catteries within the City of Pueblo.
