Recycling Information

The Pueblo City-County Health Department provides recycling for the following items:

  • Glass – all colors
  • Newspaper
  • Cans – aluminum and tin

The recycling program has drop-off sites located at:

Bessemer

  • Rocky Mountain Steel Mill parking lot on the corner of Abriendo and Division; across from Minnequa Works Credit Union

Pueblo West

  • The General Store, 607 S. McCulloch Blvd. (no cardboard)
  • Wal-Mart, 78 N. McCulloch Blvd., north side by Garden Center

Although the recycling drop-off sites are limited, they are open to the public for all to use.

To bring this service to Pueblo, the Pueblo City-County Health Department has joined the Upper Arkansas Area Recycling program (UAARP), which operates as a non-profit under the Upper Arkansas Area Council of Governments. Contractors under the UAARP will be emptying the recycling bins and transporting the recyclable commodities to the recycling market.

The Health Department coordinates with service groups, schools, clubs and individuals who monitor the drop-off areas and report if something is wrong or if a collection container is over-filled. Volunteers are the eyes of the community in keeping the recycling sites clean.

The ‘honeycomb’ storage containers have openings that reflect what should go in them, and deter trash from being placed with the recyclables.

The Pueblo City-County Health Department would like to thank the Pueblo West Wal-Mart, Rocky Mountain Steel Mill and The General Store in Pueblo West for their collaboration in bringing this opportunity to Pueblo.

This program is part of the Pueblo City-County Health Department’s effort to reduce waste, and prevent pollution in Pueblo while promoting waste diversion opportunities.
