Vital Statistics
The Vital Statistics Office maintains birth and death records. The Pueblo Office has birth and death records and ledgers with genealogy information from the year 1897. These certificates are certified legal documents and can be used for passports, traveling, school registration and driver’s licenses etc.
In 1992, the Pueblo Vital Statistics Office was linked by computer networking with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment Vital Statistics Section. This link allows the Pueblo Vital Statistics Office to issue birth certificates for anyone born in the State of Colorado.
However, copies of death certificates can only be obtained in the county where the death occurred or the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment Vital Statistics Section in Denver.
For complete detailed requirements to obtain a birth or death certificate click on your application choice, under On-line Information & Resources Section. The Acceptable Identification List and Proof of Relationship requirements are listed on the birth and death application.
